Portugal promised so much—hilltop castles, narrow winding streets, quaint fishing villages, fresh sea air, and enough nooks and crannies to wander and get lost if we wanted. We found all of that and more, including some fossilizied dinosaur tracks and divine custard tarts.
In the spring of 2008, our family experienced the wonders of Portugal in a journey that started in the capital city of Lisbon. From there, we rented a tiny car and made a meandering loop that stretched from the western coast to the eastern mountains, down through the rolling fields of the Alentejo countryside and the exquisite Algarve along the southern coast.
We are almost finished with creating daily photo-stories about our experiences in that remarkable country. Click on the blue titles below to view the story for each respective day.
